Minstrel Court 2: a converted schoolhouse with a bell tower, Bethnal Green
A new mezzanine, library and bathrooms inside a double-height classroom in a converted East London schoolhouse.

The space
The flat occupies a tall former classroom lit by big schoolroom windows. We added a mezzanine level within it, on new steel beams, enclosed by black-framed internal glazing so daylight from the windows reaches both levels.

Inside
Below the mezzanine, the open-plan kitchen, dining and living spaces run the length of the room. A wall of bespoke bookshelves lines the lower level, and we detailed each of the tiled bathrooms.
